Experience firsthand the warmth of Himachal hospitality with a traditional pahadi-style welcome from the Dhami family. Perched on the green slopes above the Saal River, Himalayan Orchard Hut sits quietly among organic plum and apricot trees and terraced vegetable fields and is the perfect springboard for exploring the Pir Panjal and Dhaula Dhar mountain ranges on a one day or more trek.

Sunbathe and laze the days away by the fresh spring water pool

 

Crafted in the traditional mountain style using stone, day and wood, the rooms are simple and dean and the views are sublime from the verandahs. Soak yourself in the spring water pool after a muscle-soothing massage, laze in a hammock, relish the mouthwatering home-cooked local dishes, or simply grab a good book from the growing library and while away the hours in the tranquil surroundings.

The garden contains a huge variety of colourful Himalayan flowers and medicinal herbs and there is plenty of opportunity for exploring the local villages and hillside trails. Focusing on environmental preservation, great care has been taken to keep the property ecologically safe and sound.

Himalayan Ridgemoor Cottage
Featured in our trekking itineraries and sitting at a height above sea level of 2250m, Himalayan Ridgemoor Cottage is situated in a picturesque hamlet near the village Rulpuli, overlooking the scenic Panj-La valley of Chamba. Built on a green pasture surrounded by spruce, cedar and rhododendron trees, the views of the snow-capped Dhaula Dhar and Pir Panjal peaks take your breath away. Himalayan Ridgemoor Cottage was used as the location for the filming of the 2004 BBC Channel 4 series, 'Extreme Celebrities Detox".

The peaceful and rejuvenative environment is an ideal location for yoga and meditation groups and the abundance of native flora and fauna provides the nature enthusiast with a wealth of interest... 49 species of birdlife have been spotted here!

Meals
Traditional home-cooked vegetarian meals are served, including rare dishes from the days of the Chamba king. Alternative arrangements can be made if this is unsuitable. Naturally running spring water and filtered drinking water is available so as to avoid the use of plastic bottles.

Accommodation
Himalayan Orchard Hut and Himalayan Ridgemoor Cottage Rooms are twin-share and simply furnished with unattached toilet and bathrooms. Tent accommodation is available for those wanting to sleep under the stars!

How do I get there?
Himalayan orchard Hut An overnight train or bus can bring you to Chamba from Delhi via Pathankot railway station or Amritsar and Gaggal airports. From Chamba town it is 12km on the Chamba-Saho Rd to the riverside village of Chiminu. From here, it is approximately 30 minutes on foot to Orchard Hut. Himalayan Ridgemoor Cottage The cottage is approximately a 3-4 hour walk from Himalayan Orchard Hut.
